Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 6, 2026
NutriScan ("we", "the app") helps you track nutrition. This policy explains what data the app collects and how it is used. The same policy is available inside the app (Settings → Privacy) in English, Spanish and Russian.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address; your password is stored only as a cryptographic hash.
- Profile data you enter: date of birth, biological sex, height, weight and nutrition goals.
- Your food log: items, portions and nutrition values you record.
- Photos of meals and nutrition labels you capture for recognition.
- Messages you send to the AI coach.
- Bug reports you choose to send.
How we use it
Your data is used only to run the service: recognize food from photos, compute nutrition totals, personalize your goals and answer your coach questions. We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising.
Sharing
Meal and label photos and coach messages are processed by third-party AI providers solely to produce your results. Barcode numbers are looked up in the Open Food Facts database. No other sharing takes place.
Storage and security
Data is stored on AWS servers in the European Union and transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed with argon2id.
Deleting your data
In the app: Settings → Delete account permanently removes your account and all data listed above. See Delete your account for details and an email alternative.
